Hi! I`m Mama – which, in Turkish baby talk, actually means food. Fitting, because I`ve been feeding you both stories for years.
The idea of this blog was born when my mother found a bundle of letters from babacim (your grandfather) – exactly one year after he left this world. At first, I thought: This should be a book. A proper one, with pages you can smell and coffee stains you can blame on me 🙂
But then I looked at you, my two delightful little bookworms – and thought, Why wait until it`s printed when I can start telling these stories right now? And not just the “big” stories, but also the bus rides in the wrong direction, the kitchen experiments that could double as science projects, my very late fascination about science, actually the history of science, all the small, ridiculous, wonderful things that make a life …
Here, you`ll find my memoirs, stitched with love, laughter, (sometimes hard-earned) lessons, and tears. At the end of every story, I`ll leave you two gifts:
One for you, my children – something I hope will make your lives easier, richer or at least funnier.
One for my future 80+-year-old self, a reminder that I was here, living loudly, laughing often, and always curious. But most of all, my resolutions for the future may be used against myself.
So, here we are. Egoquae – Who I Am. Let`s start the hustle 🙂
